LINCS is the Solihull model for Multi-agency Support of Children, Young People and their Families Incorporating the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and the Lead Person (LP).
All agencies working with families in Solihull are committed to helping children achieve the Five Outcomes:
-
Be healthy
-
Stay safe
-
Enjoy and achieve
-
Make a positive contribution
-
Achieve economic well being
(An agency is any organisation providing services, whether they are a public body like the Council or Health Services, a voluntary sector organisation or a private company.)
There are times when some families need extra support. The Solihull LINCS Model is a framework for delivering that support. Agencies working with children and families have agreed that they will take a child centered approach, work together in partnership and intervene early.
Child Centered
The process starts by looking at the strengths and needs of individual children and their families, not the services that agencies offer. Children and families will be kept informed about what is going on, and involved in making decisions that affect them.
Working in partnership
Agencies will work together in the best interests of children, so that families do not have to keep telling their story to different people, or fight for the services they need. With the knowledge and permission of children and/ or carers, agencies will share information so that they can work together more effectively.
Find out more about information sharing here.
Early intervention
Agencies will take responsibility for working with families as soon as problems start to develop, so that wherever possible they can prevent the problems becoming serious.
The Solihull LINCS Model incorporates the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and Early Support (ES). CAF is a nationally agreed approach to supporting all children and families. Find out more about the CAF here. ES focuses on children with a disability 0-5. Find out more about ES here.
